TENNIS CHAMPS REVVING UP

Delray Beach Stadium & Tennis Center will host the highly anticipated Delray Beach International Tennis Championship from February 21 through March 1 with professional tennis players from around the world playing right here in our backyard. In it’s 11^th year in Delray Beach, 3-time French Open quarterfinalist Guillermo Canas of Argentina leads the field. Among the 23 players from 13 countries are Mardy Fish (USA), Tommy Haas (GER), Marcos Baghdatis (CYP), Robby Ginepri (USA), Steve Darcis (BEL) and Vince Spadea (USA-BOCA). Brothers Bob and Mike Bryan wll be playing doubles. This major $500,000 ATP world tour is in its 17^th year. Boynton Beach has the good fortune of being the city on the Atlantic coast that is closest to the bountiful Gulf Stream: A fisherman's paradise! One can be deep-sea fishing just a short boat ride from the Boynton Inlet. Five miles of coral reef offshore with 60-foot visibility await the deep-sea diving enthusiast. The new downtown area will offer a yachting marina, outdoor performance square and exhibit of kinetic art sculptures. Promenade Park, a natural preserve, will provide scenic walking and jogging trails bordering the ICW and Pedestrian Promenade, and interconnecting walkway, and will link the city's 40-acre Mangrove Nature Walk and RiverWalk with the marina and performance square.

Boynton Beach's Oceanfront Park was rated best overall beach in Palm Beach County in 2001. Boynton's Intracoastal 10-acre Park is one of the newest in Palm Beach County. Gracing the entrance to the park is a Veteran’s Memorial with a grassed plaza and sitting wall overlooking a sparkling lake with a lighted floating fountain. Catch sight of many facets of nature in and around the park including at the southeast corner where existing mangrove and coastal planting areas have been preserved.

Boynton Beach is located just a few miles from the bountiful Atlantic Gulf Stream and is serviced by two local marinas. With Lake Osborne to the north, Lake Ida to the south and countless canals criss-crossing in between, Boynton Beach is a freshwater angler's paradise!
