ROTARIES PLAN ZOO EVENT

Various Palm Beach County, Palm Beach and West Palm Beach Rotaries, along with other Rotary groups, plan a season kickoff November 8^th at 7 pm, “Adventure at the Palm Beach Zoo. Music, dancing and entertainment, a barbecue and beverages are offered for the $45 per person admission price. Reserve by this Thursday and please wear safari and jungle prints. Boynton Beach has the good fortune of being the city on the Atlantic coast that is closest to the bountiful Gulf Stream: A fisherman's paradise! One can be deep-sea fishing just a short boat ride from the Boynton Inlet. Five miles of coral reef offshore with 60-foot visibility await the deep-sea diving enthusiast. The new downtown area will offer a yachting marina, outdoor performance square and exhibit of kinetic art sculptures. Promenade Park, a natural preserve, will provide scenic walking and jogging trails bordering the ICW and Pedestrian Promenade, and interconnecting walkway, and will link the city's 40-acre Mangrove Nature Walk and RiverWalk with the marina and performance square.

Boynton Beach's Oceanfront Park was rated best overall beach in Palm Beach County in 2001. Boynton's Intracoastal 10-acre Park is one of the newest in Palm Beach County. Gracing the entrance to the park is a Veteran’s Memorial with a grassed plaza and sitting wall overlooking a sparkling lake with a lighted floating fountain. Catch sight of many facets of nature in and around the park including at the southeast corner where existing mangrove and coastal planting areas have been preserved.

Boynton Beach is located just a few miles from the bountiful Atlantic Gulf Stream and is serviced by two local marinas. With Lake Osborne to the north, Lake Ida to the south and countless canals criss-crossing in between, Boynton Beach is a freshwater angler's paradise! Find some shade to sit under, cast out the worm and it won't be long before you'll see that plastic float slip under the water!

Water is not your thing? Golf courses abound, ranging from private to semi-private to public. There are many parks with oceanfront and intracoastal beaches that feature swimming, picnic areas, barbeques, water skiing, jetty, marina with boat slips, children's play areas, ball fields, jogging trails, racquetball, tennis, volleyball, bocce, and horseshoes.

The Boynton Beach Municipal Park features ocean swimming, BBQ and picnic areas, snack bar and rest rooms. A Boardwalk winds through natural mangrove preserve and features an observation deck.

Many new, large gated communities are sprouting up on the landscape. The concerns of the city of Boynton Beach span all ages. There is presently a brand-new $37.8 million high school under construction that will accommodate 2,500 students. There is a special emphasis on health care services for the elderly.

Classes are held at the Boynton Beach Art Center, and the Civic Center features the Gold Coast Chorale and Community Band. Visit the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge. JFK Medical Center services the community, and is growing in leaps and bounds.

All varieties of foods are found in local restaurants for your dining pleasure.

The Montreal Expos and The Atlanta Braves can be seen playing baseball at their Spring Training Camps in the area. You can watch The Miami Heat and The West Palm Beach Beachdogs play basketball, or The Florida Panthers and the West Palm Beach Barracudas play hockey.
